Oldenburg Academy Board Members
Sr. Julann Butz, OSF
Sr. Julann is the HR Coordinator for the Sisters of St. Francis, Oldenburg.
"Prior to my ministry at Oldenburg I taught math at Cardinal Ritter High School in Indianapolis, IN for 32 years. This high school teaching experience along with being a 1965 graduate of ICA, my belief in Catholic education, and my commitment to the Sisters of St. Francis led me to serve on OA’s Board."
Sr. Shirley Gerth, OSF
Sr. Shirley is a Parish Life Coordinator who graduated from Oldenburg Academy in 1962.
"I was asked by my community to become a member of the Board and because of my excellent education from the Academy and my community's affiliation with the Academy. I was happy to respond yes. I also desire to see that the Franciscan charism remain a part of the Academy in every way."
Susan Glaser
Susan is an architect at Susan Glaser Designs and graduated from OA in 1980. She is an OA mom (Lucy '09, Chase '12, Ivy '15, and one future OA student).
"I have a strong attachment to Oldenburg Academy. Both my mother and my grandmother attended school here, so it is a family tradition. The most valuable thing that I received from my education here was my work ethic. I remember being more prepared than my friends who entered college with me and my daughter has had the same experience. I am on
the Oldenburg Academy board because I see it as the highest and best use of my time in regards to helping the mission of OA."
Tom Horninger
Bob Hurm
Bob provides anesthesia at Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville. He is an OA dad (Matthew '15).
"I received my education through Catholic schools (specifically the Franciscan System) and am a strong proponent of
the foundation this education provides for the well being of a child. Oldenburg Academy continues this tradition and I
am pleased to lend my support to its advancement of the strong traditional values a Catholic education provides to
an individual."
Jeff Jelinek
Jeff is the Mechanical Engineering Manager for New Product Development at Hill-Rom.

Sr. Peg Maher, OSF
Sr. Peg is a member of the leadership team for the Sisters of St. Francis, Oldenburg.
"Oldenburg Academy brings an excellent educational alternative to this area of SE Indiana but also brings this education based in the Catholic tradition. The Sisters of St. Francis founded the school for that purpose and still continue to believe in OA's mission."
Darryl Maslar
Darryl is Vice President of Enterprise Information Systems at Hillenbrand. He is an OA dad (Alex '11 and Dana '12.)
"I chose to serve on OA's board because I was looking for a way to support the local educational community and was curious about what Oldenburg Academy had to offer students."
Doris McKee
Doris is retired and was a graduate of OA.
"I'm an alum and believe that my four years there were absolutely instrumental in my becoming the person I am. I think high school years are critical to development of responsible, industrious adults and OA does a great job of developing quality graduates who graduate and attend great colleges and contribute to society in a positive way."
Chad Miles
Chad is the CEO of Enhanced Telecommunications Corporation.
"I am interested in helping to promote and grow an institution with an already outstanding academic record and long list of student achievements."
Bob Morgan
Bob is a Senior Systems Engineer for WellPoint Insurance. He is an OA dad (Jenna '14).
"Each time I visit the Oldenburg campus I am reminded of the gifts that parents can afford their children, and one of the highest is opportunity. Opportunity without guidance in itself is not enough, however, and it is this place and these people that I feel represent all of the inspirations, principles, and characteristics that I want to see in my child while preparing her for her opportunities and the rest of her life. It is my hope as a trustee to contribute my time and talents in the support of the goals and mission of Oldenburg Academy for my student and all of our students."
David Mullen
David is Senior Vice President and Associate General Counsel for Forethought Financial Group, Inc. He is an OA dad (David '11 and Daniel '14). "I became involved in OA because I am the product of a small Catholic high school and realize how important it is to have values-based education during the teen years."
Todd Reed
Todd is an Agribusiness President and an OA dad (Lauren '10, Jamie '11 and Taylor '14). He is also OA's Varsity Wrestling Coach.
"I serve on the Oldenburg Academy board because I believe in faith based education and its influence on youth and in turn their contribution to society. We are expected to share our time, talent and treasure and I must admit that no other board that I have served on has done a better job of engaging me and it's members as thoroughly as this board has. It's an honor to serve Oldenburg Academy."
Melanie Riehle
Melanie is the Board Vice Chair/Corporation Secretary. She is an attorney. Her daughter, Elle, graduated from OA in 2011.
"I am a strong believer in Catholic education and serving on the Board allows me the opportunity to participate in the continuing development of OA."
Joshua Shenk
Josh Shenk is a strategic marketing product manager for Hill-Rom. He has two children currently enrolled in OA and two other children looking forward to attending OA.
"Serving on the Board is one way for me to support the school and help make OA the best school it can be for my children. Working on the Board is also important to me because the continued success of OA contributes positively to life in both Oldenburg and Batesville."
Greg Smith
Greg's daughters Julia and Georgia are alumni, his son Josh is an OA student, and his daughter Anya is a future
OA student.
"I've really enjoyed being a part of this institution. It's an opportunity for me to give something back to the community which I'm a part of and to be associated with a group of students which year over year continues to redefine excellence.
I truly believe the students who attend OA will make the world a better place. I'm privileged to play a small part at
this school."
Sr. Bernice Stenger, OSF
Sr. Bernice is on the Leadership Team for the Sisters of St. Francis, Oldenburg and attended OA in the mid 1960s.
"I believe in Catholic Secondary Education and its potential to create well grounded and excellent civic and Church leaders. Imbued with the Franciscan values of—care for the earth and all creation, respect for each person, good and just stewardship, relationship with God, peace making, and non-violence attitude, our youth will make a difference in the future of our world."
Julia A. Haverkos Strasemeier
Julie is the Senior Human Resource Manager at The Procter & Gamble Company. Her son, Jason, is an alum and her daughter, Katie, is an OA student.
"I value the Christian environment and teachings of Oldenburg Academy and want to give back by utilizing my strengths in the Human Resource area."
Jon Temple
Jon is the Athletic Director at St. Louis School in Batesville.
"I am excited to serve on the OA Board and I am very thankful for the opportunity. As an educator, I am extremely impressed with the quality of education OA students receive. I look forward to helping OA grow and continue its tradition of excellence."
Tim Ziemke
Tim is the Board Chair. He is a retired Vice President of Marketing/Operations. His wife is an OA graduate.
"We are fortunate to have a Board composed of so much talent and enthusiasm for our school. I have been involved with OA for a number of years through committee work and fundraising events. It is very fulfilling to watch and be a part of the transformation of our freshmen students as they evolve into young adults on graduation day. All of the members of our Board take that mission very seriously."
