OA Alumni Association Distinguished Alumni Award

The Oldenburg Academy Alumni Association hosted the first annual Distinguished Alumni Award event on Friday, October 9, 2009 at Hillcrest Golf and Country Club in Batesville. The late Holly Bruns, class of 1974, was selected as the recipient for the 2009 Oldenburg Academy Distinguished Alumni Award.

One hundred ten family, friends, alumni, OA administrators, and community members were in attendance as the award was presented posthumously to the Bruns family. Bruns spent her teaching career at South Decatur High School where she inspired countless students through class and sports, was involved in The Red Setter Club, was an avid enthusiast of biking, hiking, and athletics in general, and was devoted to her family. She was killed by a drunk driver on Halloween, 2008.

The purpose of the Distinguished Alumni award is to recognize outstanding alumni of Oldenburg Academy/Immaculate Conception Academy who have taken their education and Christian values and made a significant contribution to their fields of endeavor and/or have achieved outstanding accomplishments, honors or recognition on behalf of their community or country.

For information about submitting a nomination, please click on “Distinguished Alumni.” Anyone can nominate alumni. Nominations for the 2010 award will be accepted until summer 2010 (date TBD, please check website for updates). The 2010 Award dinner will be held October 8, 2010 in the Batesville/Oldenburg area.
