Scholarship Opportunities and Criteria
The Freshman Scholarship Application and required materials are due to the Admission Office by Friday, December 11, 2021 by 4 pm.
Requirements for all scholarships:
Step 1: Take the Oldenburg Academy Placement Test
Step 2: Complete the Oldenburg Academy Freshman Scholarship Application
Step 4: Complete Oldenburg Academy Financial Aid Form if applying for any need-based scholarships
Merit Scholarships Available:
Mother Theresa Hackelmeier Scholarship – First Place
Full one-year tuition scholarship is awarded to the student who earns the highest score on the Oldenburg Academy Placement Test. The student will receive a ¼ tuition scholarship for his/her sophomore, junior, and senior years.
Academic Achievement Scholarship – Second Place
One year, 50% tuition scholarship awarded to the student who earns the second highest score on the Oldenburg Academy Placement Test. The student will receive a $2000 scholarship his/her sophomore, junior, and senior years.
Academic Achievement Scholarship – Third Place
One year, 25% tuition scholarship awarded to the student who earns the third highest score on the Oldenburg Academy Placement Test. The student will receive a $1000 scholarship his/her sophomore, junior, and senior years.

Requirements for all scholarships:
Step 1: Take the Oldenburg Academy Placement Test
Step 2: Complete the Oldenburg Academy Freshman Scholarship Application
- Including one letter of recommendation from a teacher and/or principal
- Including one-page, typed, personal essay describing what inspires or challenges you as a student.
- Including any sample work and/or essay required for a specific scholarship
Step 4: Complete Oldenburg Academy Financial Aid Form if applying for any need-based scholarships

- Placement Test scores and report cards will be considered
- $1000/one-year scholarship
Brenda S. Vogelsang Academic Achievement Scholarship in Science
- Placement Test scores and report cards will be considered
- $1000/one-year scholarship
Herb and June Moenter Academic Achievement Scholarship in Music
- Auditions will be held in mid-January. The OA music department will contact each applicant as to the specific date and time of the audition.
- $1000/one-year scholarship
Memorial Scholarships Available:
Connie Prickel Metz Scholarship
- $1000/one-year scholarship
Cleophas William and Mary Elizabeth Moll Tebbe Scholarship
- Given to a practicing, male Catholic student with a B+ average who is active in pastoral and/or community service
- Priest, Catholic School Principal and/or Religion teacher recommendation letter
- $1000/one-year scholarship OR 2 $500 one-year scholarships (committee decides)
Holly Bruns Memorial Scholarship
- Given to an enrolling 8th grader who exemplifies Holly’s spirit and dedication to the mission of Oldenburg Academy
- Two $1000/per-year scholarships awarded (renewable for four years)
Financial Need-Based Memorial Scholarships Available:
Becky Orschell Werner Scholarship
- Given to student with at least a “B” average
- Essay topic: “How will attending Oldenburg Academy impact your life?”
- Financial Aid form must be completed
- $1000/one-year scholarship
Maria Duerr DeJaco Scholarship
- Given to a young woman with at least a B average who
- Financial Aid form must be completed
- $1000/per year (renewable for 4 years if a “B” grade point average maintained at OA))
Elmer G. & Rose L. Ramsdell Scholarship
- Given to one young woman and one young man with at least a “B” average
- Financial Aid form must be completed
- $1000/per year (renewable for 4 years if a “B” grade point average maintained at OA)
Mildred J. Hillenbrand Scholarship
- Financial Aid form must be completed
- $1000/per year (renewable for 4 years if a “B” grade point average maintained at OA)
Judith Ann Heinlein Scholarship
- Financial Aid form must be completed
- 25% tuition scholarship/renewable for 4 years if a “B” grade point average maintained at OA
Celeste P. Johnson Memorial Scholarship (St. Teresa Benedicta, Bright members only)
- Given to a student who is a registered and active member of St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross Catholic Church in Bright, Indiana.
- Financial Aid form must be completed
- $1000/per year (renewable for 4 years if a “B” grade point average maintained at OA)
James E. Fritsch Scholarship (St. Louis, Batesville Students Only)
- Given to a student who attends St. Louis Catholic School in Batesville, IN
- Financial Aid form must be completed
- $1500/per year/renewable for 4 years
Paul and Barbara Ernstes Family Scholarship
- Preference given to a student from Decatur County
- Essay topic: “Why I wish to attend OA”
- Financial Aid form must be completed
- $2500/per year/renewable for 4 years
