Why Oldenburg Academy?

Oldenburg Academy Drama Club Presents “Just Another High School Play”

Oldenburg Academy of the Immaculate Conception will present “Just Another High School Play” on Friday, March 12 and Saturday, March 13 at 7:00 pm in the Oldenburg Academy auditorium. The old adage “the show must go on” is the premise of the comedy.

“Just Another High School Play,” written by Bryan Starchman, details what happens when a group of high school actors, who have been abandoned by their drama teacher, have to fend for themselves on opening night in front of a live audience. The student director, played by senior Dan Baltz, and the stage manager, played by sophomore Josh Orndorff, find some old scripts and try to throw a show together. The results are hilarious, with physical gags and satirical rewritings of classic high school dramas. Audiences can expect to see everything from a “Romeo and Juliet” puppet show to Dicken’s “A Christmas Carol” done as a rap number. The comedy covers nearly every aspect of the typical high school play with a dose of history and improvisation thrown in for good measure.

“This play is really exciting because it’s not like a usual play. We’re creating the illusion that what’s happening onstage is really happening. It’s a play about people putting on a play. This makes the show a lot more convincing.” Josh Orndorff

Twenty six students, portraying more than forty roles, will be featured in short “Carol Burnett Show” type skits. A member of the Oldenburg Academy faculty will also make a special appearance.

Besides Baltz and Orndorff, the cast includes John Batterton, Jeannine Bosse, Jessica Bosse, Meredith Brown, Mark Brunsman, Theresa Brunsman, Ellen Buening, Matt Dobbs, Ashli Fledderman, Christopher Hockaden, Maria Keck, Ali Langferman, Tessa Larimer, Angelo Lipps, Keith Miller, Sadie Miller, Jamie Reed, Lauren Reed, Sarah Rogers, Audrey Rozman, Anna Schulte, Rachel Schulte, Quincy Shenk and Amber Teaney.

Tickets are $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for students and may be purchased at the door. Enjoy a laugh-filled evening and come see the show.

Oldenburg Academy thanks the Columbus Area Arts Council, the Indiana Arts Commission, and the National Endowment for the Arts for helping fund this production. We also thank our sponsors for their support of our 2009 fall production of "Little Shop of Horrors.”
