Elvis and Dick Clark make a surprise appearance at OA’s Reverse Raffle
Oldenburg Academy of the Immaculate Conception took a step back in time to the rock ‘n roll era to commemorate their 21st annual Reverse Raffle on March 6. Over 300 people attended Twistin’ the Night OA at the Batesville Knights of Columbus hall to raise funds to support the academic and tuition needs of over 200 young men and women attending the school.
"We are so thankful for all the generous donors who contributed over 500 gifts to this year’s event and our wonderful group of sponsors,” remarked Susan Glaser, co-chair for the evening along with her sister Rita Wilder. Masters of Ceremonies, Elvis and Dick Clark, better known as Jeff Nolting and George Junker entertained the capacity crowd during the live auction. Auctioneer Dave Giddings auctioned off 33 fabulous gifts while the guests finished their sit-down dinner catered by Lil’ Charlie’s Restaurant and Brewery with dessert by Ashley Ruberg.
The wonderful evening was capped off with Matt Trossman winning the Reverse Raffle grand prize of $2,000. Winners of the extravagant jewelry raffle were: Cathy Hoffman (ruby and diamond ring), Mary Jo Mahle (blue topaz and diamond ring), Jamie Mayborg (iolite earrings), Teri Nobbe (created emerald necklace with matching earrings and ring), and John Temple (freshwater pearl bracelet).
