![]() Oldenburg Academy baseball wins sectional championship The Twisters advanced to the Sectional Final by defeating South Decatur in the Semifinal game Monday (5/31) by a score of 8-3. Stacy pitched a complete game to earn the victory on the mound. Oldenburg belted out 14 hits in the game and committed no errors in the field to give Coach Doug Behlmer his 100th career win as coach at Oldenburg Academy. Coach Behlmer commented, “Our kids played an outstanding two games in sectionals. We got terrific pitching from Trevor Stacy and Justin Ahaus and our defense stepped up and made plays when we needed them. Offensively, we made solid contact up and down the lineup forcing the opposition's defense to make plays. I'm very proud of our kids especially our seniors who have provided positive leadership all year long. We are looking forward to regionals this weekend.” The Twisters advance to the Regional Tournament that will be held Saturday (6/5) at Shakamak High School in Jasonville, Indiana. Oldenburg will face Shakamak Sectional winner North Central (Farmersburg) in the 11:00 am Semifinal game. If the Twisters are victorious, they will go on to play in the Regional Championship at 8:00 pm against the winner of the Edinburgh/Indianapolis Lutheran Semifinal game. The Sectional Championship is the fourth championship in eight years for the Oldenburg Academy baseball program. The Twisters were previously Sectional Champs in 2003, 2004, and 2005. The victory ended a streak of four consecutive championships by Jac-Cen-Del. The victory improves the team’s record to 15-11 on the season. The 2010 baseball team is led by its three seniors Trevor Stacy, Patrick Kolks, and Matthew Bohman. As it stands now, Stacy will set school records for highest batting average (.488), on base percentage (.581) and hits in a season (41), while Kolks will set the record for highest slugging percentage (.667). Bohman has earned the honor of being named Academic All State by the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association. |
