OA Wins Batesville Tourney
The Oldenburg Academy girls soccer team added to its list of accomplishments by winning the Batesville Invitational. The Lady Twisters opened with a 1-0 victory over the host Lady Bulldogs and followed up with a 2-0 win over Centerville in the championship. Sarah Wilder gave OA the lead in the title game with a goal in the first half. Alena Schuckman, who assisted on the Wilder goal in the first half, scored in the second to put the Lady Twisters in front by two.
In the opener, Batesville and Oldenburg played to a scoreless tie over the first 40 minutes. Kirsten Ricke scored the game’s only goal on an assist by Gretchen Wilder in the second half. Goalie Ella Lamping recorded the shutout. The No. 7 Lady Twisters improved to 14-1 with the victory.
