Why Study Music?

Studies have shown that students who participate in music education have higher academic standing and test scores.

Music Courses Offered At OA

  • Freshman Chorus, required
  • Sophomore Chorus/Experimental Music and Music & Art Appreciation, required
  • Academy Singers (select vocal performance ensemble), audition only
  • Advanced Applied Music (geared toward the serious music student), elective
  • Advanced Music Theory (advanced theoretical analysis, composition, music history, and orchestration perspectives explored), elective
  • Concert Choir, elective
  • Instrumental ensembles (brass, woodwind, strings), teacher discretion
  • Instrumental/Vocal/Keyboard private study, elective
  • Liturgical Cantoring (students are trained and commissioned annually as liturgical cantors)
  • Music Theory I (Advanced Placement), elective
  • Music Theory II (Advanced Placement), elective
  • Orchestra, elective
