The Virtue, Honor, Education Tribute was established in 2004 by the Oldenburg Academy Alumni Board to recognize a living or deceased Oldenburg Academy faculty or staff member who has made a meaningful spiritual and educational impact upon the alumni.

2015 Virtue, Honor, Education Tribute
Sr. Marjorie Jeanne Niemer
On Saturday, October 10, 2015 Sr. Marjorie Jeanne Niemer will be honored as the recipient of the 2015 Virtue, Honor, Education Tribute. he presentation is part of the Academy's Alumni Homecoming Eucharistic Celebration, held in the Sisters Chapel. Lunch to follow in the Oldenburg Academy Gymnasium.
After graduating from ICA, Sister Marjorie Jeanne Niemer '69 entered the Franciscan Community on September 8, 1969. Following three years of postulancy and novitiate and one year at Marian University, Sr. Marjorie Jeanne embarked on a twenty-five year ministry of teaching music, drama and religion at St. Mary Academy, Our Lady of Angels High School, ICA, St. Martin of Tours Elementary and St. Clement's Elementary. She is a graduate of Marian University and Butler University. A two-year course in parish administration followed at Mt. St. Joseph University; then twelve years as a Parish Life Coordinator at St. Peter's and ST. Mary of the Rock in the Indianapolis Archdiocese. In 2012, she was elected to the Leadership Team of the Sisters of St. Francis where she presently serves. Besides her ministries, she engaged in various volunteer capacities. For ten years she worked one Sunday a month at a home for those living with AIDS. Three weekends a year for eight years were devoted to working with a team at Friarhurst Retreat Center in Cincinnati to provide retreats for parish groups. While ministering in the parish work, she served once a week as the volunteer chaplain at Margaret Mary Hospital. Currently she is a member of the Oldenburg Academy Board of Directors. "My thanks to the Alumni Board for choosing me for the VHE Award. My years as an ICA student and faculty member and as an OA board member have certainly blessed my life."
