The Academy Fund

Tuition allows us to do what we are asked to do – educate our students.  OA’s Annual Campaign for Giving entitled The Academy Fund, allows us to do what we aspire to do – continue to enhance the educational experience by providing resources to more fully integrate best practices and innovative opportunities identified through our continuous improvement model.  Also, you have the opportunity to identify specific programs that you are passionate about supporting and direct your gift to those areas.

Oldenburg Academy has never been in a stronger position to provide the highest quality, faith-based secondary education to our students.  Our society has never been more in need of our graduates:  women and men of exceptional character, exemplary skills, and dedicated service.  Your gift to the Academy Fund will enable us to continue this tradition that has been a hallmark of excellence and a source of inspiration for generations.  Please make the decision today to partner with us.  The need is great and no gift is too small.

Directed Giving Categories
You now have the opportunity to direct your gift to an area of your interest within The Academy Fund.

ACADEMIC PROGRAMS
Oldenburg Academy offers a comprehensive, college preparatory curriculum, preparing our students for future successes. In each class, we emphasize learning while integrating our Franciscan values and Gospel living. Our students grow academically and spiritually, immersed in this culture of vision and value. Some highlights of our academic programs:
  • Rigorous curriculum including 14 dual credit courses (college and high school) as well as 11 Advanced Placement courses
  • Daily Religion class, monthly Masses, and annual retreats for each grade
  • Four-year fine and performing arts offerings
  • Three years of pre-engineering
  • Electives in business and technology
  • 88% of the Class of 2014 graduated with Indiana Academic Honors Diplomas and 93% earned college scholarships
  • Class of 2017 (59 students) earned over $9.6 million in college scholarships

TUITION ASSISTANCE
The Academy Fund is a key component in ensuring that a quality Catholic school education is affordable for anyone who desires to attend Oldenburg Academy.
  • 65% of our students are currently being supported by financial assistance and scholarships
  • Our students come from 16 different schools, in five counties in Southeastern Indiana and Southwestern Ohio
  • OA serves Catholic and non-Catholic families, with 80% being Catholic and 20% being of other denominations or faiths
  • A unique funding opportunity is also available through the State of Indiana Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO) where your donation can receive additional significant tax savings

TECHNOLOGY & MEDIA
The technology program at OA introduces and reinforces tools needed for our students to become effective communicators, creators and collaborators in the 21st Century. This level of access comes with an ever-expanding financial cost and often a shelf-life that is shorter than a school can plan for and support. What was once considered optional is now required.
  • Oldenburg Academy was one of the first schools in the area to integrate 1:1 computing across the curriculum using iPads
  • Technology goals of “Adaptability, Creativity, Collaboration, Ethical Use, Innovation and Productivity” are accomplished daily by our students
  • Students are continuously connected to global resources every day that support and enrich our curriculum

FINE/PERFORMING ARTS & ATHLETICS
The Academy provides a well-rounded educational, social and moral foundation that reaches the hearts and minds of each and every student. OA remains a unique high school in this regard, where artists and athletes, composers and captains, leaders and learners are one and the same.
  • 90% of our students are actively involved in one or more student activities
  • 19 varsity sports available for participation; many Sectional, Regional, and State Champions
  • Our students’ talents are showcased in the 26 member orchestra - the only one in Southeast Indiana - as well as our 20 member choral ensemble
  • Student artwork has won numerous awards at the local, regional, state, and national levels

FACULTY & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Attracting and retaining the best and brightest teachers is essential. Our faculty members are encouraged to pursue professional development opportunities which enhance their ability to remain current in their disciplines, integrate cutting-edge teaching and learning strategies, and continually be renewed and reinvigorated.
  • Our approach to education is “one on one” - students are never lost in the crowd at OA
  • Our average class size is small (15) and our dedicated teachers provide personalized attention each day
  • Students are challenged to meet their highest potential and supported each step of the way

DIRECT MY GIFT TO THE AREA OF GREATEST NEED
In addition, you may request that your gift be applied where it is most needed. Check the “area of greatest need” box on your giving envelope and you will help support the people and programs meeting our current strategic needs. OA carefully balances its budget and currently supports every allocation in each area of the program. However, should any of the selected areas become over-supported, OA will utilize your gift in the area in which it is most needed and beneficial.
