Affordability

Oldenburg Academy wants every student to have the opportunity to attend our school, and we also recognize the additional financial challenges that families accept in choosing a private school education. Through its tuition assistance program, grants, and scholarships given by private donors, Oldenburg Academy supplements a portion of the total financial need for many students. In over 65% of our students utilize our affordability options and receive financial assistance, scholarships, and/or discounts.

Scholarships
A variety of scholarships are available for current Oldenburg Academy students to continue their OA education.  Some awards are needs-based; some are based upon service, leadership or a specific skill or interest.  Scholarship applications, criteria, and due dates are available online and through the Guidance Office.

Tuition Assistance
To be considered for tuition assistance parents must complete a Tuition Assistance Application. An independent company, FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment, processes the application and makes a recommendation of family need to Oldenburg Academy. Apply online at FACTS. Applications must be submitted no later than March 1. Tuition assistance awards will be made in April.

Institute for Quality Education - SGO
Oldenburg Academy’s Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO). If the student’s family meets the income guidelines, the student may be eligible for a $500 tuition grant from the SGO.  For more information, visit the Institute for Quality Education website.

Indiana Choice Scholarship Program
The United States House of Representatives recently approved House Bill 1003, which enacted the Indiana Choice Scholarship Program. This school voucher program began with the 2013-2014 school year, and can help make a private, Catholic education a reality for families who may not have been able to consider it in the past.

If the student or a sibling currently have an SGO or a state voucher, or are enrolled in a public school, and the student’s family meets the income guidelines, the student may be eligible for a state voucher. For more information go to the Indiana Choice Scholarship website.

Multi-Student Grant
A 10% tuition discount may be available for the second and each subsequent child of a family attending Oldenburg Academy during the same school year.  There are income guidelines to qualify that are based upon the submission of a copy of the 2018 Federal Income Tax Form 1040.  If you would like to be considered for this discount, please contact Geraldine Kuntz in the Finance Office.  If a student is eligible for a voucher or SGO, he/she will automatically be granted the discount.

Catholic School/Parish Employee Discount
A 10% tuition discount ($907.50 in 2017-2018) is available for children of parents employed full-time by a Catholic school or parish. This tuition discount is available for all four years of high school at Oldenburg Academy as long as the parent remains employed in the Catholic entity.

Private School Tax Deduction
Parents who live in the state of Indiana and file an Indiana Income Tax Return may be eligible for a deduction of up to $1,000 per child who is enrolled in a private school (including Oldenburg Academy). Please refer to the Private School Deduction form for more information.

For more information about any of our affordability options at Oldenburg Academy, contact Mrs. Geraldine Kuntz, Director of Finance, at gkuntz@oldenburgacademy.org or 812.933.0860.
