There are a number of awards that are given out each year including the Distinguished Alumni Award, the Virtue, Honor and Education Award, and the Exceptional Alumni of the Arts Award. If you know of someone you think would fit any of these awards, you can nominate them by filling out a nomination form!

Distinguished Alumni Award

Award Selection

The Distinguished Alumni Award selection committee is comprised of members from groups such as the Oldenburg Academy Alumni Association Board and Trustees, past Alumni Association Board Members, Alumni Advisory Council members, and the Oldenburg Academy administration.

Timeline For Implementation

July 1 of the current year: Deadline for nomination submission

Recipients will be honored at the Alumni Homecoming.

Award Criteria

  • A male or female who has been a graduate of Oldenburg Academy/Immaculate Conception Academy for at least ten years from the current academic year.

  • An alum who was regarded as a student who invested in the Oldenburg Academy community during his or her tenure at the school through involvement in co-curricular activities, student leadership, community service, and/or campus ministry.

  • A person who has made a significant impact on and contribution to the world (local, national, global), or someone who is an every day hero through his or her education, professional, and/or community service.

  • Someone who lives out the mission and values of Oldenburg Academy in his or her everyday life.

Demonstration Of Eligibility

  • What are the nominee’s accomplishments post high school graduation that make him or her a candidate for the Distinguished Alumni Award?

  • How has the nominee continuously demonstrated the values of an ICA/OA education including good citizenship, service and integrity since graduating from the Academy?

  • Attach any supporting documents (such as letters, newspaper clippings, etc.) to the nomination form that you believe the Distinguished Alumni Selection Committee should consider regarding the nominee.

The Virtue, Honor, Education Tribute was established in 2004 by the Oldenburg Academy Alumni Board to recognize a living or deceased Oldenburg Academy faculty or staff member who has made a meaningful spiritual and educational impact upon the alumni.

Exceptional Alumni of the Arts Award

Award Selection

The Exceptional Alumni of the Arts Award was established to recognize a living or deceased Oldenburg Academy faculty or staff member who began or expanded their artistic skills at Oldenburg Academy of the Immaculate Conception. This alum must continue to live out and uphold the Academy’s triune standards of virtue, honor, & education through their continued passion and participation in the arts after graduation.

Award Criteria

  • Visual Arts
    Painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, sculpting, metalworks, ceramic, fiber, glass, collage, book art, film, video, electronic arts, and the combination of any of these medias

  • Literary Arts 
    Fiction, creative nonfiction, playwriting, poetry, essay and the combination of any of these medias

  • Performing Arts
    Music (composing and/or performing of all genres), theatre, choreography, dance and the combination of any of these medias
